About Angelo
Born in Ragusa on 8 February 2001, Angelo Piccione developed a natural affinity for art from an early age. It was during his secondary school years that he discovered cinema and recognised its extraordinary ability to shape the way we see the world: this encounter sparked a deep passion for film directing.
After obtaining his school-leaving certificate in “Architecture and the Environment” at the Art School in Modica (RG), he moved to Rome to pursue his academic studies at Roma Tre University, where he studied “Arts, Music and Performing Arts” (D.A.M.S.). In 2023, he graduated with a monographic dissertation on the filmography of Christopher Nolan.
He immediately continued his studies with a master’s degree, graduating in 2025 with a dissertation exploring the relationship between the director and the director of photography in contemporary American cinema.
Alongside his academic studies, Angelo writes and directs short films. His short film “Metamorfosi” has been screened at numerous Italian film festivals, winning several awards.
Among the awards he has received during his young career are the 2018 Audience Award at the Giffoni Film Festival, in the MyGiffoni section, and the award for Best Short Film – Youth section at the “Versi di Luce Festival 2018”, both for his short film “Specchio”.
